Proposed Budget Cuts Could Eliminate IL Controlled Pheasant Hunting Program

Recently, the governor's office of management and budget sent a directive to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) that would end the state's Controlled Pheasant Hunting Program. This program provides an important opportunity for many Illinois pheasant hunters struggling to find hunting access and facing limited habitat availability. The cuts are in response to state budget concerns.

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever have been gathering detailed information about the program, including revenue, expenses, participation and success. We are working together with legislators and the IL DNR to develop a solution to this important issue for many Illinois pheasant hunters.
