PF/QF Appoint IL Youth Leadership Council - The Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever team in Illinois are pleased to welcome 8 youth from across the state to the inaugural Illinois Youth Leadership Council (IYLC). The youth were selected in October for their enthusiasm, passion, energy and commitment to make a difference for wildlife, become conservation leaders and be spokespersons for their age group. Ben, Kirsten Quinn IYLC Members Attend Conservation Congress Kirsten Blackford and Ben Magers represented the IYLC during the Conservation Congresss October 24th in Springfield. They were the only youth at the event and represented their peers during the breakout sessionon youth recruitment. During the event they met briefly with DNR Director Marc Miller and met Governor Pat Quinn. They also spoke with key legislators about getting involved in the legislative process.

Goals & Activities

  • Serve as spokespersons for peers on youth, conservation, hunting, habitat and outdoor recreation.
  • Conservation Advococy - Meet with Legislators, Agency heads and other Policy makers to share ideas about increasing outdoor recreation in youth
  • Youth Group Liasion - work with other youth group (BSA, FFA, 4H, GSA, etc) leaders to grow similar programs and partnerships
  • Increase interest, awareness, opportunity and access for all IL Youth to outdoor recreation.
  • Develop local youth conservation clubs that feed into the state council and make a difference in local communities.
  • Gain the knowledge, skills and experience that help youth develop into the effective conservation leaders of tomorrow.
